One of our students, Lira, who has now returned to South Ossetia, sent us this open letter and asked us to publish it on our website.
Lira was a diligent, enthusiastic and high-spirited English student with a touch of mischievousness (see the cake she gave us below)! We thank her for the fun atmosphere she brought to the classroom, wish her all the best back home and hope to see her again some day!
Dear staff of KATHERINE & KINGS COLLEGE OF LONDON!
I have finished 8 weeks studying at your college!
I came from a distant, small, young country called the Republic of South Ossetia.
I will never forget you!
I especially want to thank my teachers: Stephen Munns, Marta Dzido Barreto and Sam Patel.
Thank you for your extraordinary efforts. Over the 8 weeks, I have begun to speak English – of course modestly and my level is limited, but I speak nevertheless!
I have 28 years of teaching experience and am a lot older than you. I can grade your work – giving you all full marks!
Thanks to Steve for the happy, unforgettable party he organised for me on my last day. I will never forget it!
Thanks to Mariana Klapprodt for the help she gave me at any time of the day, whenever I asked her.Thank you to the girls on reception: Wez Trotman and Ramona Passerini, for their smiles when I came in every morning and their smiles as I left after classes.
An extra special thank you to the canteen staff: Peter Chan, Joan de Sadeleer and Gulzar Mohammed for their attention, their kindness, tasty food and delicious coffee.
Thank you,
Lira Kozaeva, Director of the Resource Centre for NGOs in South Ossetia
Chairwoman of the Association of Republik South Ossetian Women for Democracy and Human Rights
